| Hi to all this is my first post! anyway, I used to be an extremely loose (and very bad) poker player, but now ive switched to tight play and play very few hands pre flop. my problem is just that. i find it really really boring and i have a slight urge to call any random hand to get some action.. do i just have to bite the bullet and bring my ipod with, or am i doing something wrong? |

| Theres nothing wrong with a loose call from late position now and then. I wouldnt advise calling with absolute junk, but if your near the button and theres nothing but limpers, try playing some gapped connectors or decent suited cards. This advice only applies if you feel comfortable playing after the flop, and can tell when your beat and its not worth going any farther. |

| Hehe, the bane of any poker players life! The key to being more than a casual player is to learn patience and not to give in to the urge. I have it too, we all do - we all want to play hands, but sometimes it is just not advisable - such as when we have poor hands! |

Have to learn patience, son. That's all there is for it. You could go higher limit (not too much higher, though) and try playing that. The larger pots offset some of the waiting around you have to do following the almost automatic folding of poor hands.
Then again, you could try playing more marginal hands from time to time and seeing how things pan out. Don't do this too often, marginal hands are called that for a reason, but it will get you in on a few more hands without risking too much if you play things sensibly. |
