I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on how to play A K after the flop when it doesn't hit. Let's propose a flop of say J, 8, 3 (I know suits are important, but lets not give this too many variables, just for the sake of conversation). Assuming you are in a ring game with equal stacks, and you get caller(s) to your preflop raise:

If you are in early position heads up, should you raise? I would think so. But what if you have 2 or 3 callers behind you? If you check and someone raises, or they reraise you, when should you consider calling as opposed to folding?

What about later position? I'd probably raise if checked to me, especially if it's 3 way or heads up, but what about calling a raise? You'll probably need to hit on the turn or river to win, and even if you do, you might not be best. And you may need to call another large raise on the turn.

How might the situation be different depending on suits and gutshot flush draws, or flush draws for others when the board is 2 suited?

I find myself folding slick often after the flop when there's significant pressure applied. I'm wondering if this is too passive, and when it might be worth a call.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'll fire a bullet to see where I stand. Often times preflop agression makes pots easier to take down post flop. If someone calls, then check it up on the turn. Not betting on the flop when the flop goes down like that is weak. Raising pre says "I've got a hand" betting after says "I've still got a hand, go home"

Preflop I'd raise it, and if it doesn't land I will see where I stand. If it's cheap to stay in and see the turn, I will do, though I won't be afraid of folding if nothing comes up and I get bets around me. No point in throwing more money into something that may never come.
