I've got a rules question in a no-limit game.
Player A has $100 and is all in
Player B has $400 and is all in
Player C has big stack and calls
Player A wins the hand and his $300 pot. What happens to the other $600.
Is there a second place in poker? Do B & C basically play head-to-head for their pot? Or is the remianing pot split? |

Player A has $100 and is all in
-- Player A can win up to 100 x number of people that call (in this case his 100 + B's 100 + c's 100 = 300 total pot)
Player B has $400 and is all in
-- Player B can win up to 400 x number of people that call + Player A's short stack (in this case Player B can win total of his own 400+400 from C+100 from A = 900 total). But if Player A wins...and Player B beats player C, Player B whatever is left in the pot after player A takes his 100xnumber of people that called (900 Total possible - 300 that A won = 600 pot for B).
Player C has big stack and calls
-- Wins it all if he wins (400+400+100 = 900). Wins whatever remains if Player A wins and Player C beats Player B. (900 Total possible - 300 that A won = 600 pot for B).
So basically...when sidepots are involved...the easiest way to sort this out is to have the person with the least amount of money and is all show last. Have the largest stacks show their cards to win the main pot first....THEN see if the person who won that pot takes the smaller pot or if the all in person takes it down...(process in casinos) |

| What a big coincidence, this exact incident happened last night in my home game. It caused a huge fight, and a player to leave the game upset. onehandfold described it correctly. |

That's interesting, I've struggled to understand how they split pots like that - I just see it done and accept it.
Thanks, I know the concept just how the split goes is where I get lost. |
