I was wondering how people here play Pocket 10s? What positions would you call, what positions would you raise? How many times the BB do you raise? If you're reraised do you muck them, call or reraise? I think I am a pretty good player, but I seem to horribly misplay 10s and Jacks. Any help would be greatly appreciated

those are the 2 hardest hands to play, most certainly you wouldn't fold either preflop unless someone puts u all in....

i like to play pocket tens like a small PP, limp in and try and hit the set...

Things I notice is that pocket 10s and Jacks, heck queens for that matter get overplayed before the flop.

I will raise the hands from late to middle position, provided there are no callers or only one limper. I will just call with them from early position or late with a lot of callers.

Will definatly reraise form BB if the button or the cutoff are making a move on the blinds.

Anytime I have a chance to get heads up with a pocket pair I will try to get it.

You must also consider pot odds when calling raises with them, remeber 7.5-1 that you flop a set. So those are the type of odds you need when calling raises and reraises with these.

Here's how I played TT in a SNG tonight.

Blinds 160/320, I get T in middle position. Guy before calls, I call, SB raises 160, guy before me calls, I push it all-in (short stack). I figured that this is a perfect time to push it all rather than fold because: i) I was shortstacked and if they all fold I pick up a nice pot; and ii) I figured that both of them have AJ/AQ/AK, so the fact that their cards are close to the same gives me better odds of winning the coin flip. They both call. The flop is AT9, YES!!! SB bets and the other guy folds. Showdown: AJ vs TT, board is AT9 8 blank. I was afraid of that 8 turn because it gave him more outs. So yeah, I like the way I played that and I tripled up because of it and luck from the flop.

I would have done the same thing....

As for the topic at hand... in EP i ALWAYS raise with TT. I raise a good amount.. at least 3 times the pot. I want hands like K5, A2, etc to fold. If someone calls, i have them for high cards.... AK AJ... if someone re-raises me... i might actually fold it, depends on that players image!

In MP and LP.... i might raise again, depending on how many people are in, but in most cases, i limp trying to catch a set or low cards on the flop.

If im shorstacked.... i would go ALL IN no matter what position, hoping to double or triple up.

Pocket 10's, at the start of a game I would be more wary of them, perhaps call and limp-in, though I wouldn't raise unless I saw another 10 on the board.

Later on in the game though a pair of 10's can be very effective, and if I had the chips I would be looking to raise players a lot of the time unless I had reason to fear they had something better in hand.

I think pocket 10's are overated a little - they can be part of a strong hand, but they aren't fantastic cards and I wouldn't automatically say raise. Call if it's cheap maybe, but not raise.
