I had another post on here where I got taken out by a higher full house, but out of the three home games I've played the past 3 weeks, I've been knocked out all three times by a slighly higher full house.

I am dealt Td 9c I am short stacked and I haven't seen any good cards all night. So I know I have to play this hand

Flop comes Tc 9d 8c

I bet about half of what's in the pot so I make about a 3 dollar bet and I have about 5 dollars left in chips. He calls...

The turn comes Ts

I check and he bets and I move all in and he calls

He shows his hand Th Ks three of a kind

The river is Kd

and I loose to an out kicked full house for the 3rd week in a row.

In this hand you really did not have to watch out for a full house because you had the best possble one. You played it perfect and your opponent hit a three outer, this is not your fault.

However there are times that you do have to look for better FH like with a 99T board when you hold 9T and your opponent holds TT. Most of the time even in this case there is very little you can do unless you have an amazing read on your opponent, I personally have never folded a FH. In other games like Omaha however, you do have to make these folds occasionally.

Unless you are playing Omaha, a full house is very hard to get away from, even if it is the under full. I have experienced full house over full house to be even rarer than set over set, but in order to get away from it, you have to be a great player capable of making flawless reads, and then being able to lay down a big hand like a full house.

The only time I can ever recall laying down a full house was when the trips were on the board and I had a low pocket pair. There was an overcard to my pair on board and heavy action. Turns out somebody had quads, and another player had a higher full house-giving me the third best hand.

Only time I've ever layed down a FH is when I had 22 and flop was 333AK with lots of betting, definately didn't get involved in that. Other than that I don't think I've ever layed down a FH.

Just bad luck mainly.

But lets look at what you are playing 10-9o. When you play this hand what are you hoping to flop? I would guess a straight draw. Instead you hit 2 pair on the flop. Only problem is the flop is great for anyone looking for a straight draw or a flush draw. Will my 2 pair beat a straight? Crap what to do? At this point it is all in or fold. You have to run off anyone chasing. All in would have caused K-10 to fold because he would put you on a straight or flush.

With your half or so pot bet. He saw you were short staked and afriad to play for your stake so that told him you didn't have the nuts.

I think I would have checked for the free card then when hit it go all in. He would have called thinking he has the best kicker and I would have still lost.

But the correct play after that flop is all in or fold.

I'm with norsh on this one. You played it well, you played it as well as I would have done if not better. However, at times like this it's down to luck as much as anything - you've got hit 3 times in as many weeks, which is an unlikely occurrance.

All-in or fold would have been your best bet, but even then you might have been outdone.
